Home Remedies for Jock Itch, Natural Remedies

Jock itch affects the inner thighs, buttocks, groin and genital regions of the body. It is caused by the fungus Trichophyton rubrum, which belongs to the Tineas group. So it is also known as Tinea Cruris. Mainly men suffer from this problem. Though the problem is not that serious, it affects people with a poor immune system and those who are diabetics. The itch may be caused by bacteria, as both are active in dry and moist conditions. For this reason it is better to avail home remedies for jock itch.

There is itching in the infected area along with a burning sensation. The skin in the infected area begins to crack and flakes are formed. Gradually the skin begins to peel off. The rashes have a ring shape and are very itchy in nature. It occurs mainly in the folds of the skin and mainly affects people who are obese. Gradually the skin becomes dry, uneven and rough containing pus that may ooze out. It can turn into severe complications like sores, ulcers, cellulites and others. It is marked with swelling, redness, pain and fever. So it is best to combine home remedies for jock itch along with other medications.

Of all the home remedies for jock itch the most important one is to wash the infected area thoroughly with a mild soap less antibacterial cleanser 2-3 times in a day. Rinse the area properly. Use a clean cloth or towel to wipe the area and then blow dry the area using the dryer in the lowest power. Eat raw garlic as it has antifungal properties. In case you find it difficult to eat, take 2-3 cloves of garlic and blend it along with one cup of olive oil. Then take a paper napkin and soak third-fourth of the napkin in the garlic oil and apply it to the infected area and experience the relief.

The burning of the rashes can be reduced by applying tea tree oil directly on the area using a clean cotton ball. The oil has great therapeutic values and should be applied regularly and you have to continue it for almost a week even after the rash has disappeared. One of the quick working home remedies for jock itch is by making a solution by diluting 2 tablespoons of bleach in 16 ounces of hot water. You have to be specific about the quantity used as bleach can burn the skin very easily. Then soak a wash cloth or a towel and apply it on the infected area after 3-4 hours. The infection is totally cured by the bleach.

If the jock itch shows no signs of leaving, use salt for the purpose. For this you have to mix half cup of salt to lukewarm water in a bath tub and see to it that the salt completely dissolves in the water. Soak yourself in the water for about half an hour. You have to do this 2-3 times in a day. The salt will help in removing the liquid from the blister gradually. Dry the area thoroughly. Then wear loose-fit cotton clothes. The other home remedies for jock itch are avoiding foods that have yeast in them. Besides this, you have to avoid foods that have sugar in them. Avoid alcohol as it gets converted into sugar. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables in place of fast, processed and oily foods.
