Dark Circles around the eyes is a common problem. The reasons for dark circles could be fatigue, lack of sleep, stress, unbalanced diet, too much exposure to the sun and excessive intake of medicines and drugs. Sometimes they could be hereditary too. In extreme cases, these dark circles make a person look older than his age, or worse still, give a ghost like appearance.
There are some home remedies for dark circles however, which are quite easy and effective to use.
A good eight hours of sleep is the first thing to do, to reduce stress and to get rid of those dark circles around the eyes.
Next, applying cold teabags around the eyes reduces dark circles. One should also get into the habit of drinking about 4 liters of water every day, as it lightens the dark circles and keeps the skin glowing. Almond oil, which is easily available at home can be applied as well on the dark circles at night and washed off in the morning.
Cotton balls dipped in rose water can be kept on the eyelids for about 15 minutes. This will reduce the stress under the eyes, thus reducing puffiness and dark circles. Creams rich in Vitamin C and E are great sources of iron. They can be easily bought at any of the drugstores or with a chemist and can be applied on the dark circles.
A paste can be prepared by mixing tomato juice, lemon juice, gram flour, and turmeric powder. This paste can be applied on the dark circles to lighten them within few days.
Potato juice too can be applied with cotton balls on the dark circles, and is considered to be a great home remedy. Potato slices can also be spread on the eyes to get rid of puffiness.
A raw cucumber can be grated to extract its juice. This can then be applied over the eyes and the dark circles to distress the eyes and make the under eye dark circles disappear in no time. Cucumber slices can also be spread on the eyes to relax them, and feel fresh and rejuvenated.
A paste can be prepared by mixing mint leaves with water. This soothes the eyes and reduces the under eye dark circles bothering you.
Pineapple juice can be added to turmeric powder to from a paste. This can be applied on the dark circles and washed off after some time. This home remedy is said to give surprising results.
Also, Yoga exercises like pranayaam can be tried out to reduce dark circles around the eyes.
Drinking the juice of tomatoes mixed with mint, lemon juice and salt is good for a healthy skin and of course dark circles too. A paste prepared by mixing almond powder to milk can also be applied on the dark circles.
Nutmeg can be mixed with milk to form a paste which can then be applied on the eyes to lighten dark circles. Also, one should simply use sunglasses when going out into the sun to prevent further damage.
